Testimonials

It’s always nice to see returning faces and we have a lot of repeat visitors. Some stay with us at Papudo as part of a tour of southern Spain, some are on their way to North Africa. Others base themselves here for their whole holiday. The choice is entirely yours. Here are some comments from past visitors as listed on Trip Adviser...

'It’s the Best!  Cortijo El Papudo is such a surprise.'

After the rush of the Costa de Sol this breathtakingly gorgeous farmhouse offers stunning views of the Spanish countryside, very comfortable, ensuite airy rooms, a beautiful garden to wander around, a delicious breakfast and an honesty bar!

You really do feel you are experiencing that elusive goal- the real Spain.......

The owners, Michael and Vivien Harvey, are very knowledgeable on all aspects of the campo and answered all our questions from the birdlife to the best places to eat in the surrounding white villages. We loved it there and we were sorry we only had time for a brief stay. We will return!.

'I suspect this is one of the best B&Bs in Spain – but keep it quiet please!'

I have stayed here a few times with my family, and it is undoubtedly an absolute gem. Slightly off the beaten track, and all the better for that, it is a haven of tranquillity and peaceful calm: the ideal location for recharging your batteries (and doing some bird watching/polo/walking at the same time).

The house is a labour of love, and the owners a true reflection of perfect hosts.

We are counting the days to our return...

'A Hidden paradise – we will certainly be back.'

Just returned from a fabulous weekend at this amazing property. We took over the whole cortijo as part of a family wedding party - with ages ranging from 1 to late 70s!

I can't rate it highly enough - and agree with everything previous reviewers have said. It's an idyllic haven for garden/ nature lovers and anyone wanting to experience the tranquillity and beauty of rural Andalucía.

The children (and most adults) loved the swimming pool and there were plenty of loungers to laze around the pool (essential after a typical Spanish wedding that didn't finish till 3 am!).

There's even a table tennis table for the energetic - although a bit hot for that!

The English owners were extremely helpful and friendly and made us all feel completely at home. They were also very flexible and were happy for us to have a family BBQ on the evening before the wedding!

Additional highlights for me included: 8 griffin vultures flying over; lots of geckos and lizards; some beautiful butterflies; being shown the lychees and mangos growing in the poly tunnels; and the fact that they had camomile tea!

I can't wait for a return visit! (needs the name, have managed to lose it!)
