Location

Everyone remarks on the peace and quiet of Papudo, and the relaxing the calm of rural Spain.  The last thing you will hear on a summer’s night is the sound of nightingales. And in the morning ... perhaps the distant sounds of cultivation down in the valley..

Malaga airport is a popular arrival point for all visitors to the Costa del Sol and we are one and a quarter hours by car from there via the toll road.  Or, we are 40 minutes from the expanding air service into Gibraltar airport.

The toll road is by far the easiest and fastest route to reach us from Malaga but, depending on the time of year, you will need between 10 and 20 euros cash for the toll booths.

Take the Cadiz Road ( right) on to the A7. After approximately 3 kms, keep in the right-hand lane and bear right to Benalmadena and Algeciras (a blue sign ). Follow this road for about 15 kms to the bottom of a hill and keep in the left lane for the new toll road AP7 E15 ( peaje –autopista) which goes all the way to Sotogrande and Torreguadiaro.

Look for the roadside distance marker which says ‘km 133’. This is where you turn inland on the A2102 and follow the signs for 7 km. towards San Martin del Tesorillo, via the village of San Enrique..

At km. 1 you come to a petrol station in the village of Secadero.

Follow the road through the village and round a left bend, past a Farmacia (chemist with green cross outside) and, where the houses end, turn right – just before the River Guadiaro bridge into San Martin. There is a sign that says Vivero el Papudo (that’s us). Follow this road over four bumps for approx. one km till you come to a small hill. Go up the hill for 100 m. and turn sharp left into Cortijo el Papudo drive. Our sign is by the roadside.

The new toll road is in three parts :-

Malaga to Marbella where you stay on the main road bypassing the town.

Marbella to Estepona where you stay on the main road bypassing the town.

Estepona to Sotogrande –signed Torreguadiaro. Exit km. 133 right to San Martin.

For those arriving at Gibraltar, take the road marked Estepona / Malaga, and look for Km 133!
