About Us

Michael and Vivien Harvey came to Spain in 1987 ago to grow avocados. Over the years they have not only established Papudo as a thriving farm and plant nursery but also renovated the run-down Cortijo into a truly delightful place to stay, relax and unwind.

 'It’s been a challenge!'

When we first negotiated the dirt track that was, back then, the approach to Papudo, we knew we faced a challenge.

The Cortijo hadn’t been lived in for about 25 years and had no running water, electricity or mod cons. It did have a telephone – no direct dialling possible, just Candy across the valley usually willing to connect us.

Now the road is tarmac and the near-derelict ruin that was to be our home is a restored comfortable haven for visitors from all over the world.

Our shade houses have provided plants for gardens far and wide, we have built a large reservoir for the farm and yes, we did eventually plant the avocados!

It’s been worth it

Not only has Spain become our home, but our years here at Papudo give us unrivalled local and regional knowledge.  Our visitors have very different ideas of what makes a great holiday; some like to be busy every day, others to simply relax and sample the local offering.

We always have time to talk, advise and ensure that everyone who stays at Papudo leaves feeling its restorative powers.

We have been welcoming guests now for over ten years and enjoy many repeat visitors to share in our little piece of Paradise on Earth.
